Who Owns the Salt Mines (Pakistan)
Every now and then I receive e-mails from Manufacturers who claims to own Salt Mines in Pakistan. If asked for proof of ownership from these so-called owners of the mines, I never hear from them again.
I know for a fact, (since I come from Pakistan), that all mines are owned by the government of Pakistan and are under the control of PMDC “Pakistan Mine Development Corporation.
It is the government who award contracts to mining companies, who mine the salt from the mines, and sell it to businesses like ours. Most of the salt is used for industrial purposes. A very small fraction of the salt is high quality crystalline, which is used for consumption.
So when someone claims that they own a salt mine, or they have found the Original Himalayan Salt, these claims are misleading and totally false.
